About POS/Hardware Setup
Use these screens to set up important options used for the point of sale system. These include equipment, electronic payment processing settings, function keys, touchscreen options, and biometric device options. The Setup Point of Sale screen has been divided into several categories, each containing important settings. Select the category on the left side of the screen, and the settings for that category will appear on the right.
Keep in mind that not all sections may apply to your business. In addition, some sections in the Point of Sale setup list may be hidden based on the features included with your license.

Field by Field Help - Setup POS screen
Default Salesperson
Select the method to use to determine the default salesperson on new sales invoices that are created.
None | No default salesperson is entered. |
Customer Salesperson | The salesperson from the customer record is used. If blank, no default salesperson is entered. |
Login Employee | The current login employee is used, if that employee is also a salesperson. Otherwise, no default salesperson is entered. |
Employee, if no Salesperson | The salesperson from the customer record is used. If blank, the current login employee is used. |
Allow unit price to be less than lowest selling price
When checked, ManageMore will allow the user to lower the unit price of any item on a receipt below its lowest selling price as defined in Supertrack inventory.
Require salesperson on sales receipt
When checked, the program will not allow the user to complete a receipt until a salesperson's initials are entered in the "Rep" field.
Warn if not enough inventory to sell
When checked, the program will display a warning message if the quantity of an item that you enter on a receipt is more than the actual quantity on hand in your inventory.
Allow tax override on sales receipt
Allows the user to click on the Taxes hyperlink on an invoice and manually change tax amounts.
Allow any serial/lot number on sales receipt
Allows the entry of any serial or lot number on a receipt. No inventory of serial numbers will be kept or referenced if this box is checked.
Always log out after each Point of Sale Transaction
Check this box to cause the POS program to logout after each completed transaction. This setting does not cause any behavior change in the main ManageMore software.
Show cash drawer management options
Check this box to allow the cash drawer to be opened or closed from the POS screen.
Show time clock management options
Check this box to allow employees to clock in and out through the POS screen.(while an employee is logged into a point of sale screen).
Warn if change due amount is greater than
Check this box to display a warning if the amount of change due on a receipt is greater than the amount defined. This is to help avoid entry mistakes when entering amounts tendered.
Allow refunding without a reference sales receipt
When checked, ManageMore will allow the user to create a refund transaction without an receipt number as a reference. This setting allows the issuing a manual refund. Allowing refunds without proof of purchase is considered risky for most businesses ... be careful when using this setting.
Workstation Setup
Barcode Scanner device is connected to this station
Check this box to allow ManageMore to operate with a barcode scanner on this PC only. This checkbox must be checked for the next field on this tab to be active.
Barcode Scanner Model
Select the model of barcode scanner that is attached to this PC. If your model is not listed, choose Generic (Keyboard/USB Interface).
Workstation Setup
Magnetic Stripe Card Reader device is connected to this station
Check this box to allow ManageMore to operate with a magnetic stripe card reader on this PC only. This checkbox must be checked for the next field on this tab to be active.
Card Reader Model
Select the model of card reader that is attached to this PC. If your model is not listed, choose Generic (Keyboard/USB Interface).
Workstation Setup
Cash drawer device is connected to this station
Check this box to allow ManageMore to operate with a cash drawer device on this PC only. This checkbox must be checked for the remaining fields on this tab to be active.
Cash Drawer Model
Select the cash drawer model that is attached to this PC. If your model is not listed, choose Generic (Printer Driven).
Cash Drawer Port
Select the port that the cash drawer device is connected to. Choose from Printer, COM1, or COM2.
Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits and Stop Bits
The communication settings for the cash drawer. These are defaulted to 9600, None, 8, and 1, respectively.
Cash Drawer Signal
Enter the ASCII character numbers needed to open the drawer as specified by your cash drawer manufacturer. Note: Most cash drawers default to 07 for electronically opening the drawer.
Connected Printer
Enter or select the printer that this cash drawer is connected to, if applicable.
Workstation Setup
PIN Pad device is connected to this station
Check this box to allow ManageMore to operate an attached PIN pad on this PC only. This checkbox must be checked for the remaining fields on this tab to be active.
PIN Pad Model
Select the PIN Pad model that is attached to this machine. Choose from HHP TT-3100/TT-3101, Veriphone PINPad 1000/1000se, or Veriphone PINPad 2000.
Selecting the HHP TT-3100/TT-3101 model above will show the following fields:
Display image file on pad during transaction intermission
Check this box to show a particular image on the PIN pad while the transaction is being created.
Image File
Enter the full path and filename (e.g. C:\MMWIN\DATA1\IMAGE.BMP) of the image to show when the above checkbox is selected. Use the Browse and Load buttons to find through Windows Explorer.
Selecting the Veriphone PINPad 1000/1000se or the Veriphone PINPad 2000 will show the following fields:
PIN Port
Choose the COM port that the PIN Pad is connected to.
Baud Rate
Select the baud rate to use as defined by the manufacturer of the PIN Pad.
Parity
Select the parity setting to use as defined by the manufacturer of the PIN Pad.
Data Bits
Select the number of data bits to use to use as defined by the manufacturer of the PIN Pad.
Stop Bits
Select the number of stop bits to use as defined by the manufacturer of the PIN Pad.
Time Out
Select the number of seconds that should elapse before the PIN Pad times out (reverts back to its idle state).
Selecting the HHP TT-3100/TT-3101 or the Veriphone PINPad 2000 will also cause the following field to become available:
Allow credit/debit card reader use on this device
Check this box to allow the swipe reader on the PIN Pad to be used by the customer.
Translation
Language used for Standard Prompts
Select the language that prompts on the PIN Pad should be displayed in. Select from English or Spanish.
Welcome Message
Enter the message you want to appear on the PIN Pad at the beginning of each transaction.
Cash Back
Allow cash back during debit transactions on this workstation
Check this box to allow cash back to be used when a debit card is chosen for payment on this PC. Selecting this box also allows for the following fields to be usable.
Valid Amount 1-4
Enter an amount of cash back you would like to offer the customer when they use a debit card during a transaction.
Workstation Setup
Pole display device is connected to this station
Check this box to allow ManageMore to operate with a pole display device on this PC only. This checkbox must be checked for the remaining fields on this tab to be active.
Port
The serial port to which this workstation connects the pole display.
Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits and Stop Bits
The communication settings for the pole display.
Clear All Code
Enter the ASCII code for clearing the entire display as provided by your pole display manufacturer.
Scroll Code
Enter the ASCII code for scrolling text as provided by your pole display manufacturer.
Cursor On/Off Code
Enter the ASCII code for turning on or turning off the cursor as provided by your pole display manufacturer.
Message Scroll
The message to appear between transaction entries.
Translation
Taxes Due Message
The prompt to appear before tax amount. Appears when transaction is completed.
Total Due Message
The prompt to appear before total due amount. Appears when transaction is completed.
Tendered Message
The prompt to appear before amount tendered. Appears after transaction tender is completed.
Change Due Message
The prompt to appear before change amount. Appears after transaction tender is completed.
Workstation Setup
Receipt Printer device is connected to this station
Check this box to allow ManageMore to operate with a receipt printer on this PC only. This checkbox must be checked for the remaining fields on this tab to be active.
Printer Model
Select the receipt printer model that is attached to this PC. If your model is not listed, choose Generic.
Extra Linefeeds at End
Select the number of carriage returns that will be added to the end of the receipt for easier tearing of the receipt.
Start Command
Enter the manufacturer's command for starting a receipt printout. Commands are denoted by numeric ASCII codes separated by commas. To separate two or more commands on the same line, use a vertical bar between the commands ( | ).
End Command
Enter the manufacturer's command for ending a receipt printout. Commands are denoted by numeric ASCII codes separated by commas. To separate two or more commands on the same line, use a vertical bar between the commands ( | ).
Paper Cut Command
Enter the manufacturer's command for automatically cutting a receipt printout. Commands are denoted by numeric ASCII codes separated by commas. To separate two or more commands on the same line, use a vertical bar between the commands ( | ).
Bar Code Command
Enter the manufacturer's command for automatically adding a barcode to the end of a receipt printout. Commands are denoted by numeric ASCII codes separated by commas. To separate two or more commands on the same line, use a vertical bar between the commands ( | ).
Bold Print On Command
Enter the manufacturer's command for turning on the bold type in a receipt printout. Commands are denoted by numeric ASCII codes separated by commas. To separate two or more commands on the same line, use a vertical bar between the commands ( | ).
Bold Print Off Command
Enter the manufacturer's command for turning off the bold type in a receipt printout. Commands are denoted by numeric ASCII codes separated by commas. To separate two or more commands on the same line, use a vertical bar between the commands ( | ).
POS Layout
Select the type of layout that should be used on the point of sale screen. Choose from Basic Layout that uses minimal, static functions of the point of sale system, or Dynamic Layout which can be used with definable buttons that can allow for great customization of the Point of Sale. The Dynamic layout is also touchscreen compatible.
POS Theme
Select the theme and color scheme to be used with the Point of Sale. This can only be used with the Dynamic POS Layout.
Password required for...
Check the box to require entry of the verification password to allow the event described. The verification password must be entered when prompted to accept the entry of the transaction.
Workstation Setup
Signature capture device is connected to this station
Check this box to allow ManageMore to operate with a signature capture device on this PC only. This checkbox must be checked for the remaining fields on this tab to be active.
Signature Capture Model
Select the model of signature capture device attached to this workstation.
Display image file on pad during transaction intermission
Check this box to show a particular image on the PIN pad while the transaction is being created.
Image File
Enter the full path and filename (e.g. C:\MMWIN\DATA1\IMAGE.BMP) of the image to show when the above checkbox is selected. Use the Browse and Load buttons to find through Windows Explorer.
Allow credit card reader use on this signature capture device
Check this box to allow the swipe reader on the signature capture device to be used by the customer.
Translation
Confirmation Message Line 1-3
Enter the text to display on the signature capture device when the device is prompting for a customer signature.
POS Layout
Select the type of layout you want your Point-Of-Sale screen to have. Choose from the Basic Layout which incorporates basic POS functionality, or Dynamic Layout which allows touchscreen capabilities and customizable backgrounds, buttons and functions. [Note: The remainder of the prompts in this window require the selection for this field to be set to Dynamic Layout.]
POS Theme
Select a them for your Point-Of-Sale window to have. Graphics, colors, etc. are set specifically for each theme available.
Touch Pad Setup
This list shows all of the button menus available within the POS Setup. Click on the buttons on the right to do the following:
Auto Create | Select this button to go into the Touch Pad Wizard (detailed below), which can rapidly create touch pads based on particular categories and departments |
New | Create a new menu of buttons |
Edit | Modify the selected menu of buttons (This can also be done by double clicking the menu name.) |
Delete | Remove the selected meny of buttons. |
Set As Default | Change the default menu of buttons to the currently selected one. The default menu of buttons will appear first when then POS screen is brought up. |
Locations | Click this button to select an alternate default touchpad for a different location. |
Setup Function Keys
Click this button to set particular combinations of keys on your keyboard to particular functions within the POS. You may assign up to 24 key combinations each with a particular POS function and custom caption.
Payment Method Setup
Click this button to define which payments methods are accepted at the point of sale. At least one must be selected before using the POS for the first time. This can also be conifgured within the ManageMore software in the Payment Methods list.
Touch Pad Wizard
This wizard will show on screen when the Auto Create option is selected in Touch Pad Setup.
Create Touch Pads using
Select what method of classification should be used when auto-creating touch pads. Select from Inventory Category or Inventory Department.
Category/Department Selection
Select the categories/departments to be included in the touch pad creation. Clicking on a selected item will unselect it.
Button Layout
Button Size
Select the size of the buttons that should be used when auto-creating the touch pads. Select from small (4 buttons per row), medium (2 buttons per row), or large (1 button per row).
Button Color
Select the background color that should be used for the buttons created.
Button Content
Select whether each button should contain an inventory image, text from the inventory item record, or both.
Caption Text Size
Select the size of the text that should be used on the auto-created buttons.
Caption Text Color
Select the color of the text within the buttons to be auto-created.
Example button
Displays what a sample of the buttons would look like with the selected options.
Navigation Buttons
Include navigation buttons
Check this box to have a row of navigation buttons (Home, Back, and Next) on the bottom row of each page of auto-created buttons. Checking this on will enable the next two options.
Navigation Button Color
Select the color of the background of the navigation buttons.
Navigation Text Color
Select the color of the text of the navigation buttons.
Menu Links
Select how to link these new auto-created touch pads to any already existing. Select from:
Create a new touch pad with links | Select this to have ManageMore create a new touch pad and the appropriate links without linking to other touch pads. |
Add links on an existing touch pad | Select this to link the auto-created touch pads to an existing touch pad. You will need to select the touch pad to link to. |
Do not add links to new touch pads | Select this if you do not want any links to be made in the auto-created touch pads. |
Finish Touch Pad Wizard
Click on Finish here to create the new touch pads.
POS Touch Pad Setup
Description
Enter a description for this touch pad here. This description will show on the Touch Screen Setup list.
Layout
Select the manner in which the buttons should be laid out for this touch screen menu. Large touch pads can only be used if the Function Keys are not used.
Show disabled buttons in preview
If checked, any disabled buttons will show as broken squares with a label of "Disabled" in them where a button has not been set.
Button Action
Select what ManageMore should do when the selected button is clicked/touched. Choices include:
Disabled | Disables the button - it will not be seen on the Touch pad. |
Add Specific Item | Causes an item from the Supertrack Inventory to be added to the transaction. |
Item List | Displays an item list for the user to select an item from. Selected item will be added to the transaction. |
Touch Pad Link | This button will cause a different set of touchpad buttons to be displayed on screen. |
External Program | Causes a specifiied software program to run. |
Website Link | Causes a specified website to come up in the default Internet browser. |
Quick Payment | Allows for immediate saving and payment of a transaction with a pre-determined payment method and amount. |
POS Function | Allows for a particular point-of-sale function to be performed. |
Numeric Keypad | Touch this button to bring up a standard numeric keypad |
SKU Item
Used with the "Add Specific Item" button action, enter or select the item to be represented by this button.
Item List Type
Used with the "Item List" button action, select the type of list to be displayed. Selecting Item List by Category/Department will prompt the user to enter or select the coprresponding category or department ID. Selecting to display a list of Departments or Categories will bring up a list of those departments or categories.
Touch Pad to Call
Used with the "Touch Pad Link" button action, select the touch pad to be displayed when this button is clicked/touched.
External Program / Run and Wait
Used with the "External Program" button action, select the path and filename of the program to run. Check the Run and Wait checkbox if you want ManageMore to stand by while the other software is running.
Website URL
Used with the "Website Link" button action, enter the address of ther website you wish to display when the selected button is clicked/touched.
Payment Method / Payment Amount / Exact Payment
Used with the "Quick Payment" button action, select the method and amount of payment to be used. Check the Exact Payment box to allow the payment to be equal to the balance of the transaction [Note that the payment amount field will be unavailable if this box is checked].
POS Function
Used with the "POS Function" button action, select the specific function you want ManageMore to carry out when the selected button is clicked/touched.
Button Color
Choose a color for the selected button from the list provided. If a theme color is chosen, the color will vary according to the POS theme selected. Otherwise, the color will stay constant regardless of theme selection.
Use Caption from Inventory Item
Used with the "Add Specific Item" button action, check this box to use the inventory item's description as the caption for the button. Selecting this will disable the Caption Text fields.
Caption Text
Enter up to three lines of text to appear on the selected button. These fields will be disabled if the Use Caption from Inventory Item checkbox is checked.
Caption Text Color
Select the color of the caption text to appear on the selected button. An exmaple of the color will be displayed next to this field.
Caption Position
Select how the caption text should aligned in the selected button.
Caption Text Size
Select the size of the caption text that appears in the selected button.
Image Type
Select the type of image to be displayed in the selected button. Choose from None, User Defined Image, or Inventory Thumbnail Image (applies to "Add Specific Item" button action only).
Image File Name
Select the file name of the image to be used on the selected button. This field is available only when the Image Type is set to User Defined Image.
Image Position
Select how the image should be placed in the selected button. Selecting Full Size will cause the entire button to be filled by the image (which will be stretched as necessary), while selecting Left, Center, or Right will place a proportionally sized image on the button in that position.
Button Security
Select the type of security that this button should have. Choose from:
None | No security is used for this button. This button will be available to all employees. |
By Password | Users will see the button, but will only be able to carry out the corresponding function by knowing the password to it, matching the one entered in the space provided. |
By Employee | Those users who are selected will see the button on the touchpad, others will see nothing in the button's space. Employees who can see the button are selected by clicking on the Employee Access button. |
Password
Enter the password that will allow the use of this button. This field is only available when Button Security is set to "By Password."
Employee Access
Click this button to select the employees who should have access to this button.
This section allows you to set up a user-defined field for use on sales receipts. This field will appear on the POS form, and it can be used for any purpose.
Default Prompt
Enter the name of the customized field. This is the field name that will appear on the invoice form.
Picture Format
Use this field to determine the length in characters and the format of the custom field. The maximum length is 15 characters.
Default Value
Enter a value that you will mostly use in this field. This is optional.
Preview
Click this button to preview the selected form on-screen with the settings as displayed.
The following fields appear when the Document Format is set to Full Page Receipt:
Full Page Receipt - Program Settings
POS Receipt Header
The title to be used when printing/displaying sales invoice documents.
Print Company Watermark Image
Print the company watermark image in the background of the document. The watermark image is set in the General section of this screen.
Print Company Logo Image
If checked the program will print the company logo on the upper left of the document. The company logo is set in the General section of this screen.
Print Company Name
If checked, the program will print the company name and address on the upper left of the document. Leave this value unchecked for pre printed forms.
Hide all Graphics
If checked, the program will not print any graphic items on the document. Select this option for pre printed forms.
Workstation Setup
These settings are saved for each workstation
Form Type to Use
The form to use when printing invoices. Choosing a form number displays its description to the right.
Printer to Use
Select the printer to use when printing invoices on this workstation. If blank, ManageMore will print to the default printer.
Allow alternate form/printer selection
If checked, allows the user to select a checkbox at the of the transaction that prints the transaction to a different printer using a different form type.
Always print duplicate invoice/merchant agreement on credit card transactions
Choose this option and a duplicate receipt will print for the customer to sign when processing credit card transactions.
The following fields appear when the Document Format is set to Narrow Receipt:
Workstation Setup
These settings are saved for each workstation
Form Type to Use
The form to use when printing invoices. Choosing a form number displays its description to the right.
Printer to Use
Select the printer to use when printing invoices on this workstation. If blank, ManageMore will print to the default printer.
Always print duplicate invoice/merchant agreement on credit card transactions
Choose this option and a duplicate receipt will print for the customer to sign when processing credit card transactions.
Translation
Subtotal Message
Enter the message you want to have appear before the subtotal amount on your receipt printout.
Freight Message
Enter the message you want to have appear before the freight amount on your receipt printout.
Discount Message
Enter the message you want to have appear before the discount amount on your receipt printout.
Total Due Message
Enter the message you want to have appear before the total due amount on your receipt printout.
Balance Due Message
Enter the message you want to have appear before the balance due amount on your receipt printout.
Tendered Message
Enter the message you want to have appear before the amount tendered on your receipt printout.
Change Due Message
Enter the message you want to have appear before the change due amount on your receipt printout.
Header/Footer Msg
Header Message Line(s)
Enter up to three lines of text that will appear at the top of each of your receipts.
Footer Message Line(s)
Enter up to five lines of text that will appear at the bottom of each of your receipts.
Credit Card Msg
Credit Card Message Line(s)
Enter up to ten lines of text that will appear on each receipt where a credit card was tendered.
Extra
Include company name on receipt
Check this box to have your company name appear on each receipt.
Include company address on receipt
Check this box to have your company address appear on each receipt.
Include detail header on receipt
Check this box to have the detail header appear on each receipt.
Include customer account number on receipt
Check this box to have your customer's account number appear on each receipt.
Include customer name on receipt
Check this box to have your customer's name appear on each receipt.
Include SKU item on detail line of receipt
Check this box to have the SKU item information appear on each receipt.
Include extended information on detail line of receipt
Check this box to include the secondary description field on 40 column printer receipts, or to include the primary description line on 20 column printer receipts. These additional descriptions will appear on the next line following the appropriate line item.
Include bar coded transaction number on receipt
Check this box to have the transaction number appear on each receipt in barcode format.
Show whole numbers only on all price amounts
Check this box to drop all decimal numbers from all prices on the printed receipt.
POS Policy Message
Enter your sales policy in the box provided. This policy message will appear at the end of your receipts.
Transaction Notes
Enter the default transaction notes, that will appear at the end of the sales receipt. These can be changed or entered on individual receipts if desired.
